A New Kind of Writing Instrument?

Wired’s Gadget Lab had a cool article about hybrid pen/pencils that write with metal this morning. I’ll let the actual article explain all the details, but the gist is that the hybrids are basically styluses with a solid metal tip soft enough to leave markings on paper when used like a normal pen or pencil. The metal pen/pencils allegedly never need sharpening, create markings that do not smear and use such a small amount of alloy to write that they will never run out of “ink.”

The hybrids look like they write in a neat off-silver, and I thought were otherwise interesting enough that they might make a cool alternative to the standard executive style pens. I imagine the companies mentioned in the article don’t yet sell into our industry, but I’m sure that’s nothing a few e-mails won’t fix.

Until next week!

WEEKLY MIKE FACT:
I’m so excited for the cooler weather we’re having right now and hope it’s signaling the start of Fall. Nothing makes me happier than hooded sweatshirts and lower electric bills coming back into style.
